• Only Spaceships have two sleeping options where you can extend the bed internally or externally. In winter we recommend the internal sleeping option on colder nights when you can extend your full double bed internally and have the back door shut. An extra duvet is included for FREE over the winter months to keep you extra cozy and warm. Plus Spaceships are insulated like a good car keeping you far warmer than if you were staying in an ordinary sleeper van.

Spaceships NZ insurance

For additional non-refundable fees, you may purchase from us All Inclusive Insurance. This will reduce the Bond payable by you on a per incident basis unless the loss or damage is not fully covered by insurance. If an accident occurs before the expiry of the Rental Period you must pay additional fees for the remaining days of your hire if you still wish to obtain the benefit of All Inclusive Insurance for the remainder of the Rental Period. The insurance options, cost per day, bond and maximum collectable fees are set out as follows:

*Maximum Collectable Insurance refers to the capped amount for liability reduction insurance. Normal insurance restrictions and policy still applies.
* Note: All Inclusive insurance applies to the Beta 4 berth vehicle but a separate NZ$1000 bond, which cannot be reduced applies for the roof pod.

Windscreen Cover
An additional non-refundable premium of $5 per hire day to a maximum of $175 i.e. 35 days rental will cover you for the loss or breakage of the front windscreen. This cover EXCLUDES the sunroof and all other glass windows and mirrors. A windscreen replacement costs $550 so we strongly recommend taking windscreen cover if opting for Standard Liability or upgrade to the All Inclusive which includes windscreen cover.

Roof Pod bond
The cover provided by each insurance option is set out below. No means not covered and yes means it is covered.

NOTE: In the event of a Single Vehicle Accident your maximum liability is that of the bond applicable to your age and insurance option taken (except if you are in breach of this agreement in any way.)
NOTE: Under the All Inclusive Package one windscreen and two tyres will be covered for accidental damage. Should this be exceeded the cost will be the responsibility of the hirer.
Spaceships recommends taking the ‘All Inclusive’ option to reduce your liability so you can travel with peace of mind.

You acknowledge that you will be liable for all costs to the Vehicle and any third party property and insurance cover will be denied under Standard Excess Liability; Liability and "All Inclusive” insurance if:
(a) there is any water related damage such as Vehicle submersion, creek or river crossing, beach driving or driving through low plain flooded areas;
(b) you breach the terms of this Agreement in any way;
(c) you drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
(d) damage is caused by careless or wilful conduct; such as high speed driving or racing your Vehicle and continuing to drive if a warning light appears
(e) you drive on restricted, closed, dirt or unsealed roads and any damage caused by snow chains or roof racks
(f) the articles damaged are appliances or fixtures inside the Vehicle unless in the case of a motor accident.
(g) loss of the Vehicle keys or pod handle and loss of personal belongings
(h) damage to additional accessories hired due to incorrect use
(i) if the Vehicle is driven by anyone not named on the rental document or Astronaut Form
(j) incorrect use of fuel is not covered
(k) If the Vehicle is operated outside of the agreed rental term or any agreed extension of that term
(l) The Vehicle has become bogged. You are responsible for all associated costs of retrieving the Vehicle
(m) You are responsible for all towing costs to our workshop in Gordonton as a result of any single vehicle accident. This is additional to any insurance cover you may have opted for.
